Scattered Shimmer Brick Stitch - SATS 9/14/24

Posted by Laura Searle on

A take on a double brick stitch, the scattered shimmer brick stitch provides the opportunity to add a small accent to this every day household name stitch. Although named "shimmer" this stitch can be used in a variety of ways, such as using a matte thread in a similar or different color family, opting for a variegated thread, or using a different textured threads such as a ribbon or silk. Additionally, the accent stitch can be used in almost a zig-zag pattern as shown here, or stacked vertically, creating a striped effect.

Heidi's Tip: Although this stitch can definitely be used for a background or even to demonstrate water or the sky, Heidi recommends using the scattered shimmer brick stitch on ornaments! In particular when stitching something unusually shaped such as a cocktail bottle as the vertical stitching provides generous opportunity especially when compensating.
